The first thing that any one of these followers will tell you, would be that they serve a “Risen Savior”. This savior that they are speaking of is Jesus Christ, who lived a mere 33 years on the Earth over two thousand years ago. While he might have only lived for a meager amount of time, he made a worldwide impact in this time.
He was able to perform miracles and show people the way to salvation in this time. He was born of a virgin, as this is what God had designed. This would ensure that Christ was not corrupted by the sinful nature of man that began when Adam and Eve took bites of forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden. Without being of the world and only in it, he could start off his life sinless.
He would continue to live this life both sinless and pure. This is important because when he was arrested and killed for defying the religious leaders of the time, he was setting up what would be the sacrifice that would save all who believe. Because he was sinless, he was able to die and take all the sins of the world on his shoulders as the perfect pure atonement for the evil nature of men.
Three days out from dying, Jesus Christ would resurrect from the grave to prove that death could not conquer him. This is a statement to those that would believe in the sacrifice, resurrection and purpose of Christ that they too would not be confined by the certainty of death. Rather, they would die and then live eternally in the presence of God and Christ in Heaven.
Now this might not be something that you believe, but you can at the very least appreciate that a majority of religions existent in the world are derived from the Christian faith in some way.
